disney
Samantha asked:

Next week is student council week at school, and we get to dress up for each themed day. Monday is “Disney Day”, and we have to dress up like a disney character. I am unsure of which character I could possibly do, because of lack of costumes. I don’t really have the time or money to buy a costume, so any ideas on what is simple to do? It can be anything “disney”.

Planning my 2009 Disney World vacation and would like some info on nearby Downtown Disney hotels that are actually walking distance to Downtown Disney. Not planning on renting a car since we’ll be in the area for just a couple of nights. Did not want to spend an arm and a leg for this hotel since we will only be utilizing it for a good nights sleep…Any info will be appreciated! Have a great day.

south of the border
Thomas W asked:

Despite how it appears on the map, Colorado is not rectangular: it’s east and west borders are determined by lines of longitude which converge at the north pole (they get closer to each other as they go farther north). Thus, Colorado’s northern border must be shorter in length than its southern border. But I have not been able to find anything to say exactly how much shorter (and I must admit, I do not have the math skills to figure it out myself). Does anyone know about this?

world
Jennifer A asked:

I teach high school Juniors at an urban high school in Massachusetts. I have been teaching World Literature for just a couple of years and I’ve found that with all the technology in the world, that my students don’t have an idea about what is going on outside their everyday lives. After discussing this with fellow teachers a question was formed; how can you teach about the ocean when your students have never seen, smelled, heard, tasted, or felt the ocean? We expect students to be able to read and learn about certain texts from around the world, yet how do we put those texts into context. The context is what I’m trying to teach. My students are always asking me about the importance of learning about the world, how do I make what I’m teaching relevant to them? That is the basis of my overarching question.
